The English owned lodge and gardens at Boulevard 251 has been home to long and medium term guests since 2007.
To cater for the growing number of tourist visitors to Iquitos – The Gateway to the Amazon Rain Forest – we have built some brand new luxury apartments for rent right on the banks of the Amazon with stunning views.
The property is steeped in history. Bought for a mere £190 by another Englishman during the rubber boom of 1880 -1914, the lodge is said to have been the sanctuary to a Nazi war criminal after World War II and its 23 metre balcony overlooking the Amazon was used for the brothel scenes in the 1975 film Panteleon y Los Visitadores – from the book based on true facts by Peru’s Nobel Prize winning author Mario Vargas Llosa.
The lodge was converted into apartments by the present owner, a keen conservationalist, who lives on the premises and has been careful to preserve the garden which is home to several species of exotic birds, owls, iguanas and other wild life.
We the owners have taken a local family into our care who help us to provide for our guests, a warm welcome and a clean, comfortable and interesting experience.
